the slow unraveling of my mind

me and the roomie live in a basement apartment in dc for the summer. and above us in the rest of the house are 3 girls. sounds simple enough, like it’ll be a smooth, calm, relaxing summer. but its not. i never knew that floors could be so thin until i moved in. every step is magnified 1000 times. when they run up the stairs (and they always run), it sounds like theyre bowling. and i know, i know: it’s summer and i shouldve known that girls would be partying it up all the time. but its still sad when i get woken up at 2 in the morning because theyve decided to have an impromptu karaoke session. i guess its one of those things that you have to go through to learn what NOT to do when you have basement neighbors that work…
